This university, unlike older, traditional universities such as University of Dayton, is 84 percent commuter students, according to the 2007 Student Fact Book. This means there's a larger flow of traffic.

It also means it's harder to keep non students, faculty and staff off campus.

The Launching Pad is closing its doors, making it the second business in a week to announce it was leaving the Village.

Alan Maugherman, The Launching Pad founder, said the music venue was closing Nov. 1 after a unanimous decision by the Full Circle Arts Co-op, the group that runs the business.

Central Michigan University defeated the Ball State University field hockey team 3-1 Saturday afternoon, extending the Cardinals' losing streak to a school record 10 games.

The Chippewas spoiled senior day for Ball State quickly by jumping into the lead when senior midfielder Amanda Lucik scored less than three minutes into the contest.
