Eastern head coach Bob Spoo knew Tennessee State had a good defense. Thursday night, he saw it. The Tigers intercepted Eastern quarterback Jake Christensen three times, forced two fumbles and had two sacks as Tennessee State upset the Panthers 21-10 Thursday at O'Brien Field.

The Hillsdale College football team will enter uncharted Saturday when they play in the first round of the Division II playoffs. A No. 6 seed in Super Region 3, the Chargers are matched against 10-1, No. 3-seed Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Although his team has won five straight games-the longest win streak in 10 years for the Chargers-head coach Keith Otterbein wasn't sure what the selection committee would think of winning their last two games against opponents with a combined 1-21 record.

The Sycamores had an up-and-down first two days of the week. After starting out with a tough, disappointing loss to a tough SEC opponent in LSU 56-45, the Sycamores then stormed back and ran wild on the Panthers of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 76-63.

The Sycamores were destroyed by the Tigers of LSU on the offensive glass, surrending 24 offensive rebounds to the Bayou Bengals, while the Sycamores came up with only six offensively of their own.

Fresh off back-to-back wins at the University of Michigan, the No. 1 Miami University men's ice hockey team is slated to play its only home series in the month of November this weekend against Ferris State University.

The Bulldogs just completed their own weekend sweep against Bowling Green State University and are 7-3-0 overall and 2-2-0-0 in the CCHA, while the Red and White is 8-1-1 overall and 5-1-0-0 in conference play.

The Miami University women's tennis team has been one of the less heralded teams during the past two years. The team has quietly become a contender in the college tennis world.

The 'Hawks won the MAC regular season and tournament championships in 2009, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history and were ranked in the national rankings for the first time ever in April and finished the year 72nd overall.

Tennessee Martin dismissed the Eastern football team last year in a YouTube video after the Skyhawks won 29-26. "N-O-T-H-I-N-G, that's what Panthers mean to me," was what the Skyhawk locker room spelled out last season after a win. The only video on Saturday afternoon was one that Eastern senior defensive end Trevor Frericks called a 'video game-like' performance by the Panthers as they cruised to a 49-13 win against the Skyhawks at O'Brien Field.
