Despite an increase in health center services, Miami University's sexual health rating decreased in the last year.

In the third annual Trojan Condom Sexual Health Report Card released Sept. 29, Miami came in at 95th, down from 55th in 2007.

The report, which ranks sexual health resources and information available to students at 139 American colleges and universities, goes along with Trojan Condom's "Evolve" campaign, which promotes improving America's sexual health.

Hidden amongst the tall native grasses and wild flowers surrounding IUPUI buildings are small, red signs reminding people this is a smoke-free campus. Many students can still be seen smoking not three feet from campus buildings. While the number of student smokers has decreased, the tobacco companies still have a grip on IUPUI.

This fall, Wright State University hit its second highest enrollment in its 40-year-history with a 749 increase in students. Last year, 16,913 students registered for classes in the fall. This year 17,662 students registered. This much of an increase was not anticipated, said Jacqueline McMillan, the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management.

A Ball State University student remains with a twisted bicycle and a sprained ankle after being struck by a driver at the intersection of McKinley and University avenues Friday.

Sophomore Dakota Smith was riding his bicycle west on University Avenue when Nancy Cunnington turned left onto McKinley, and she hit him.

Launching Pad venue to close

The Launching Pad is closing its doors, making it the second business in a week to announce it was leaving the Village.

Alan Maugherman, The Launching Pad founder, said the music venue was closing Nov. 1 after a unanimous decision by the Full Circle Arts Co-op, the group that runs the business.

While only a single property has gained the stamp of approval from the city of Cincinnati, university officials remain optimistic as some CUF (Clifton/University/Fairview Heights) neighborhood landlords maintain a 'wait and see' attitude.

Last month, the University of Cincinnati Police Department, Cincinnati Police and Fire Departments and Student Government kicked of the CUF Landlord Accreditation Program in an effort to increase the safety of housing in the areas surrounding campus.
