Although the RedHawks boast a powerful offense, their one main weakness is in their defense, which has been one of the key points during the off-season and during early games.
"Blocking better at the net will lead to much more success for us on the defensive end," Schroeder said.
If everything clicks for the 'Hawks, they will have a chance to go after the Ohio Bobcats who are the four-time defending MAC champions.
However, Miami knows that in order to compete with Ohio, they have to take small steps toward earning a championship and take each match one at a time.
"Every match is important to us," Condit said. "Everyone wants to knock off OU and we would like to be the team to do that."
The RedHawks will get a chance to knock off the defending champs twice during the regular season, once Sept. 28 at Ohio and once again Nov. 3 in Oxford.
The RedHawks are in Colorado this weekend, taking on Colorado State, Winthrop University and Colorado.
Miami will be back playing at Millett Hall Sept. 20 when they begin MAC play against the Bowling Green Falcons who were ranked second in the preseason MAC poll.
