Temple returns 21 starters from 2007 and the MAC's top defense. Senior WR Travis Shelton from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. is the Owls' top receiver with 16 catches for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Freshman running back Joe Jones leads the Owl rushers with 125 yards and a touchdown on 43 carries.
The Owls will be without starting quarterback Adam DiMichele, though. His replacement, Chester Stewart, only managed 60 yards and a 50 percent completion rate on 20 throws in his first start Saturday.
In 2007, Miami went 1-4 in non-conference action yet still managed to win its conference. In order to help repeat that performance, the RedHawks need a victory against Temple. Of the 41 times Miami has won its conference opener, the RedHawks went on to finish first 41 percent of the time.
Both teams are currently coming off losses going into Saturday's Family Day clash in Oxford, with Temple looking to break a four-game losing streak after winning its season opener. The game kicks-off at 3:30 p.m. at Yager Stadium.
