Name: Andy Miele
Sport: Hockey
Hometown: Grosse Point Woods, Mich.

Katie Giovinale (KG): How did you first get into hockey?

Andy Miele (AM): My dad played growing up so he put me on skates when I was 5.

KG: Where did you play juniors?

AM: I played in Cedar Rapids, Iowa then I got traded to the Chicago Steel.

KG: How did you do in juniors?

AM: I scored 125 points in 139 games. I ended up breaking the all-time scoring record in Chicago.

KG: How did you decide to come to Miami?

AM: I really liked the campus (and) the coaches, and they had a pretty good hockey reputation. They really persuaded me the most.

KG: What's it like being on the team?

AM: I love it here. It's a great group of guys on the team. Everyone is close and hockey-wise we've done pretty well. We call our team the brotherhood. Really it's our family away from our families. We're all brothers really.

KG: What's the best part about playing Miami Hockey?

AM: I'd say the fans are great. The coaching staff is always there for you and willing to help you.

KG: What's your relationship like with Blasi?

AM: He has a pretty close relationship with all the players. He's there for you if you need help with hockey, school, family stuff or anything else.

KG: What's hard about playing a sport in college?

AM: You're constantly going between hockey, class, traveling and homework. You don't really get time to relax. You have to stay on top of hockey and school because if one gets messed up the other one probably will too.

KG: What do you like to do in your free time?

AM: Sleep, hang out with the guys, watch Entourage.

KG: What's your major?

AM: Sports Studies. I want to try to play professional hockey, but if that doesn't work out, I want to maybe be a sports agent.

KG: Have there been any good pranks on the team?

AM: Sometimes guys will put clear tape on the bottom of guy's skates and they won't realize it and just wipe out when they hit the ice.

KG: What are your goals this season?

AM: I'd like to put up 30 or more points, be a plus player and I'd like to make the all CCHA team.

KG: What about team goals?

AM: We'd like to win our league and obviously the national championship, but our first goal is to get to Washington where the Frozen Four is.
