As part of Bicentennial Family Weekend, Bill Cosby will be entertaining audiences at Miami University for the sixth time since the 1970s.

Patti Hannan Liberatore, director of the performing art series, said Cosby's performance will be a comedy show full of jokes and funny stories.

"People just really love to see him," Liberatore said. "I was checking the history and Cosby's come back (to Miami) more often than anyone."

Cosby will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 in Millett Hall.

Liberatore said it's because of his family-friendly comedy act that Cosby sells a lot of tickets.

"A lot of generations have grown up to him," Liberatore said.

David Sheldrick, assistant director for audience development and artist services, said as of Sept. 30, nearly 6,000 tickets have been sold and many great seats are still available.

Craig Harkrider, box office supervisor, said Millett Hall has the capacity to seat 10,992 people. Cosby will be on the round stage in the center of the basketball court, Harkrider said, and four screens will be set above him for people to view from all directions.

Liberatore said people can expect to have a really good time Saturday because it's the kind of show that everybody can enjoy.

Junior Katherine Ladt said she's going to see Cosby's show with her parents.

"We're big fans of live entertainment and wanted something fun to do," Ladt said. "None of us have seen Cosby live before."

Ladt said Cosby has had the ability to reach a variety of audiences for a long time. She said Miami's probably asked him back so often because he's become an icon for comedians.

"He's brought a positive message and for our generation The Cosby Show was the show to watch," Ladt said.

Cosby was unavailable for comment due to his busy schedule.

Tickets can be purchased up until show time Saturday. For ticket information call Miami's Box Office at (513) 529-3200.
