Though it only bounds 6.3 square miles, finding something to do around Oxford is not as challenging as one may think.

As the temperature drops and cabin fever rises, look no further than The Miami Student to bring you our first-ever "Breaking out of the (Ox)box" event guide to help you discover some of the opportunities Oxford's surrounding areas offer for the rest of November.

Jungle Jim's International Wine Festival

For the over 21 crowd, experience the tastes of wines from local wineries and more than 20 countries around the world such as Argentina, South Africa, Spain and New Zealand. The annual event will feature more than 80 booths offering tastes of more than 400 wines to enjoy. Booths will also offer foods, such as olives and cheeses, that compliment the choice of wine. Tickets in advance are on sale for $55 per person or $60 per person at the door. Non-drinkers are also invited at the price of $25 per person. Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science

Journey through thousands of years to learn about ancient history in Egypt. This current exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center explains how modern medical and forensic science contribute to how we have uncovered the mysteries of ancient Egyptian people, art and architecture. The hands-on exhibit is accompanied by its OMNIMAX Theater feature film "Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs" which highlights 19th century discoveries of 40 hidden royal tombs and what modern science, such as DNA testing, tells us about these discoveries. The Learning Kitchen's Hands-on Cooking Classes

Event dates vary, classes offered every day in November except Wednesdays and the week of Thanksgiving

"Discover your inner chef" with The Learning Kitchen's hands-on cooking classes this month. Learn how to cook different varieties of food (even leftovers) with assorted techniques from Cincinnati-area chefs. When the meal is complete by the end of class, students can enjoy and taste their own creations. Classes offered in November include "Appetizers for Entertaining," which provides a unique menu for hosting holiday parties; "Fantastic Football Food," a class that teaches students how to make their own BBQ wing pizza with blue cheese celery dressing and more; "Take me to Thailand," a class that teaches students how to cook Thai-styled recipes; and even a "Homemade Pasta Workshop."
